DSSRC Administrative Closure #197

The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (“DSSRC”) contacted a direct selling company (the “Company”) regarding six social media posts disseminated by salesforce members. DSSRC was concerned that the posts communicated inappropriate earnings claims to consumers and potential salesforce members including representations of financial freedom and monthly income ranging from $500 to $1,000 a month.

The Company promptly responded to DSSRC and noted that they take compliance very seriously. The Company contacted the salesforce members responsible for the non-complaint posts and advised them to either remove or revise the posts at issue. Four of the six posts have been removed and the remaining two were revised to eliminate the non-compliant issues that were identified by DSSRC.

Accordingly, DSSRC administratively closed this inquiry based upon the good faith efforts demonstrated by the Company to address DSSRC’s self-regulatory concerns.
