DSSRC Administrative Closure #198

The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (“DSSRC”) contacted a direct selling company (the “Company”) regarding three social media posts that DSSRC was concerned communicated the message that the Company’s products are effective as a weight-loss supplement and in treating several serious health-related conditions including, but not limited to, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. The posts were identified by DSSRC pursuant to its ongoing, independent monitoring of the direct selling industry.

The company promptly responded to DSSRC’s notice of inquiry and contacted the distributors of the posts as well as third-party services to assist in removing the non-compliant posts. Two posts have been removed from circulation. The Company provided DSSRC with a copy of the correspondence sent to the inactive salesforce member responsible for the remaining post and informed DSSRC that it is currently working with a third-party service to remove the remaining post as the disseminator of the post is located in outside of the United States.

Based on the Company’s good faith actions to address DSSRC’s concerns, DSSRC administratively closed this inquiry.
