DSSRC Administrative Closure #65
DSSRC contacted a direct selling company about three business opportunity posts disseminated by salesforce members. The social media posts came to DSSRC’s attention pursuant to its independent monitoring of advertising in the direct selling marketplace.
The first post referenced an opportunity to earn, on average, up to $8,000 per month. A second post offered the opportunity to “be your own boss” and to earn an extra $1,000 per month. Finally, DSSRC expressed its concern that the last post which referenced “earning extra income this season” would be interpreted as the Company taking advantage of the current pandemic to offer a business opportunity.
DSSRC was informed that Company removed all three posts immediately after the claims were brought to its attention.
DSSRC expressed its appreciation to the Company for its efforts in removing the post. As a result of the prompt actions taken by the Company, DSSRC administratively closed the inquiry.
