DSSRC Administrative Closure #87

DSSRC contacted a direct selling company about a social media post disseminated by one of the company’s salesforce members that contained a claim that implied that the direct selling company’s products could help prevent COVID-19.

The direct selling company was able to contact the salesforce member in question and have the claim removed from social media within 48 hours of DSSRC bringing the claim to the company’s attention. In addition, the direct selling company informed DSSRC that it further educated the salesforce member regarding compliant claim dissemination and undertook a process of performing a thorough audit of the salesforce member’s social media.

DSSRC expressed its appreciation to the company for its efforts in removing the post and undertaking additional education and monitoring of its salesforce member. As a result of the prompt actions taken by the company, DSSRC administratively closed the inquiry.
