Our Mission
BBB National Programs, a non-profit organization, is the home of U.S. independent industry self-regulation, currently operating more than a dozen globally recognized programs that have been helping enhance consumer trust in business for more than 50 years. These programs provide third-party accountability and dispute resolution services that address existing and emerging industry issues, create a fairer playing field for businesses, and a better experience for consumers. BBB National Programs continues to evolve its work and grow its impact by providing business guidance and fostering best practices in arenas such as advertising, child-and-teen-directed marketing, data privacy, dispute resolution, automobile warranty, technology, and emerging areas.
BBB National Programs was established in 2019, but our roots run deeper. Our program teams have worked with industry leaders and government regulatory agencies since 1971 to establish standards that guide best practices across industries.
You will help our mission-based organization make a difference in the world.
Industries rely on us, an independent third-party, to hold them accountable to responsible business practices and, in doing so, together we enhance consumer trust.
We encourage truthful and responsible advertising in all forms of media, and over the past 53 years have built an enormous body of case law.
We protect children and teens online because, as media evolves, the need for responsible marketing and safe data practices remains constant.
We help companies to navigate privacy issues, in the U.S. and around the world, through mechanisms and safe harbors such as DPF and Global CBPR.
We resolve disputes through neutral, independent, and proven mediation and arbitration programs, such as BBB AUTO LINE.
We embrace the challenges brought by emerging issues, provide accountability mechanisms for industry self-regulation and address evolving needs in areas such as AI and leading technology.
In our Center for Industry Self-Regulation, we are expanding academic research and incubating new industry self-regulation programs.
