BASIS OF INQUIRY
The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (“DSSRC”) is a national advertising self-regulation program administered by BBB National Programs, Inc. This inquiry was commenced pursuant section D(ii) of the DSSRC Policies & Procedures.
Specifically, several core health-related and income claims being disseminated on the social media pages of certain distributors of dōTERRA were brought to DSSRC’s attention. It was alleged that many of the representations at issue include both express and implied claims that dōTERRA’s oils can treat diseases and/or medical symptoms.
