DSSRC Administrative Closure #156

The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) contacted a direct selling company (“Company”) regarding two Facebook posts that came to its attention pursuant to its independent monitoring of marketing claims in the direct selling industry. These posts made by the Company’s salesforce members included serious health-related claims for its products regarding immunity boosting and cancer-prevention.

Shortly after receipt the inquiry, the Company advised DSSRC that  these posts were already in process of being disabled. In addition, after reviewing other posts of the salesforce members, the Company’s compliance team found one of the salesforce members had made several other posts in violation of the Company’s compliance standards and contacted them to have all problematic posts removed.

DSSRC expressed its appreciation to the Company for its diligent actions to remove the Facebook posts. Accordingly, DSSRC administratively closed the inquiry pursuant to the DSSRC Policy & Procedures based upon the actions taken by the Company to address its concerns.
