DSSRC Administrative Closure #199
The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (“DSSRC”) contacted a direct selling company (the “Company”) regarding two social media posts that DSSRC was concerned communicated unsubstantiated health and wellness benefits claims that the Company’s products can prevent certain diseases and protect against health-related conditions including COVID-19. The posts were identified by DSSRC pursuant to its ongoing, independent monitoring of the direct selling industry.
The Company promptly responded to DSSRC’s notice of inquiry, immediately contacted their compliance team, and sent notice to the distributors to remove the posts. One post has been removed from circulation. The social media page of the distributor of the second post has been removed, however the page and post will still be visible to viewers until the end of the month. The non-compliant posts will be deleted once the social media page is no longer visible.
Based on the Company’s good faith actions to address DSSRC’s concerns, DSSRC administratively closed this inquiry.
