DSSRC Administrative Closure #206
The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (“DSSRC”) contacted a direct selling company (the “Company”) regarding four social media posts that DSSRC was concerned communicated the message that the Company’s products are effective in treating a number of serious health conditions including, but not limited to, arthritis, diabetes, depression, anxiety, Lyme disease, and Lupus. The posts were identified by DSSRC pursuant to its ongoing, independent monitoring of the direct selling industry.
The Company promptly responded to DSSRC’s notice of inquiry and immediately contacted the salesforce members who disseminated the non-compliant posts. All posts have been removed from circulation. The Company informed DSSRC that it sent each salesforce member in question compliance training materials including the Company’s “How to Share” guides, “Red Flag Words to Avoid”, and links to the product specific toolkits to ensure they comply with the relevant guidelines in future posts.
Based on the Company’s good faith actions to address DSSRC’s concerns, DSSRC administratively closed this inquiry.
