Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Recommends LiveGood Discontinue Certain Earnings and Health-Related Product Claims

McLean, VA – April 10, 2024 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) of BBB National Programs recommended that LiveGood, Inc. USA modify or discontinue certain earnings and health-related product performance claims.

The advertising claims were made by LiveGood, a direct selling company that sells a variety of multivitamins and supplements with a focus on sleep aids, inflammation management, muscle recovery, and weight management. This inquiry, which included three earnings claims and five product performance claims, was commenced by DSSRC through its ongoing independent monitoring of advertising and marketing claims in the direct selling industry.

In this case, DSSRC was concerned that the challenged claims communicated the message that LiveGood salesforce members can generally expect to earn significant income from the LiveGood business opportunity and that the LiveGood products are effective at treating serious health-related conditions. The social media posts were disseminated on Facebook and YouTube.

The challenged earnings claims include, but are not limited to:

  • “yesterday was payday and so I earned $350 in commissions
  • “show you how you can make $2,047.00 without doing anything”
  • 💥UNLIMITED MATCHING BONUSES
  • 💥UNLIMITED INCOME POTENTIAL”

The challenged product performance claims include, but are not limited to:

  • As a former Speech Pathologist & Audiologist working with people suffering from so many different illnesses & diseases...and experiencing my own mother suffer with Dementia... I (Jill) feel compelled to share this information with everyone around the world NOW! Nootropic Brain Boost Less Than $13💙
  • ✅ Tons of research on Depression, Cancer, Alzheimers. Remarkable hope for Depression, AIDS & other Viruses, Alzheimer’s, Autism, Cancer, Heart Disease... Targeting Mitochondrial Dysfunction!”
  • Screen capture of Zoom call presenting LiveGood products titled “LiveGood Focus Zoom-Insulin Resistance and Type II Diabetes”
  • “#diabetes #insulinresistance #type2diabetes”
  • “Got pain? Got anxiety? Try out LiveGood products and experience what it can do for you. #financialfreedomfromhome”
  • “🚀 ATTENTION 🚀 If you have HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE!!!!
  • Take a listen to this if you or someone you know has high blood pressure!! #highbloodpressure #bloodpressurecontrol”
  • “The nutrients in LiveGood Organic Super Greens possesses ANTIOXIDANTS, ANTIBACTERIAL, ANTI-CANCER and ANTI-INFLAMMATORY properties....
  • Support ENERGY, Healthy aging, Digestive health and Immune protection, Improves Blood Circulation, Prevent Anaemia, Combat depression, Fatigue & Anxiety, Boost Fertility & Regulate hormonal imbalance.”

LiveGood participated in the DSSRC process in good faith and worked quickly to remove all but one of the earnings claims identified in this inquiry. DSSRC recommended that LiveGood either modify or discontinue the YouTube video in which the remaining public claim can be found.

Regarding the product performance claims, although LiveGood removed two of the five product performance claims at issue and modified one of the posts, DSSRC was troubled with the remaining two social media posts. DSSRC remained concerned that the two remaining posts communicate that LiveGood products can effectively treat several serious health conditions such as high blood pressure and cancer without reliable, competent scientific evidence proving the claims. LiveGood did not try to substantiate the claims.

DSSRC recommends that LiveGood continue its efforts to contact the individuals responsible for the remaining social media posts and request that they remove the posts or discontinue the claims. If those individuals are active salesforce members and remain unresponsive, DSSRC recommends LiveGood take appropriate enforcement actions including either suspending or terminating the salesforce members’ accounts.

If the individuals are no longer active salesforce members, it is recommended that LiveGood provide DSSRC with copies of the correspondence sent to those individuals and consider adding a comment on the post to inform the public that the claim has not been authorized by the company.
