Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Finds Magnetude Jewelry on Path to Advertising Compliance

McLean, VA – May 2, 2023 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) of BBB National Programs opened a compliance inquiry to review advertising from Magnetude Jewelry, a multi-level direct selling company, following up on a case from 2021 concerning earnings and product claims and found Magnetude Jewelry on the path to compliance.

The inquiry, which was commenced as part of DSSRC’s compliance process, resulted in the identification of 20 social media posts that do not comply with the recommendations of the 2021 case.

Magnetude Jewelry was responsive to this compliance inquiry and took appropriate and prompt steps resulting in the removal of 19 of 20 social media posts that were identified. For the social post that remains publicly accessible by consumers, which was disseminated in 2019, Magnetude Jewelry made a good faith attempt to contact the individual responsible for the post and take appropriate steps to try and have the social post taken down.

In addition, DSSRC determined that Magnetude Jewelry has made a bona fide, concerted effort to comply with DSSRC’s 2021 recommendations and recognized and appreciated its good faith actions to have the challenged content removed in the spirit of voluntary self-regulation.

DSSRC will continue to monitor the online and social media advertising for Magnetude Jewelry by the company and its salesforce to ensure that the dissemination of such unsupported claims is not a systemic issue.

All BBB National Programs case decision summaries can be found in the case decision library. For the full text of DSSRC decisions, visit the DSSRC Cases and Closures webpage.
