New York, NY – September 2, 2020 – Halotherapy Solutions stated that it will permanently discontinue the advertising claims for its Infrared Sauna that were at issue in an inquiry before the National Advertising Division (NAD) of BBB National Programs.
Through its routine monitoring program, NAD requested substantiation for the following express claims:
- “Our goal is to help people improve their respiratory hygiene as well as reducing the symptoms of asthma, allergies and COPD, improve their immunity and well as help reduce the symptoms of skin issues like eczema, psoriasis and the ravages of modern life.”
- “In addition, those who suffer from the following conditions can greatly benefit from the halotherapy: bronchitis, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis.”
- “Many patients who have asthma, allergies and other bronchial issues have seen some amazing results in a short period of time. Breathing became easier, more energy was experienced, and people just had an overall better quality of life. While we don’t make any medical claims about Dry Salt Therapy, patients’ respiratory issues and lung functions have vastly improved after receiving treatments. In addition, those who have severe skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema or acne have also had incredible improvements in the health of their skin.”
- “Infrared Sauna adds the following benefits to the already naturally powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties of pure pharmaceutical grade salt. Some of these benefits such as boosting your immune system, reducing stress and fatigue and improving skin were already benefits of dry salt therapy….Weight loss and increased metabolism….Eases joint pain and stiffness.”
During the proceeding, the advertiser informed NAD that despite submitting substantiating evidence, it permanently discontinued all of the challenged claims. NAD, relying on the advertiser’s representation that the claims had been permanently discontinued, did not review the claims on their merits. However, the voluntarily discontinued claims will be treated, for compliance purposes, as though NAD recommended their discontinuance and the advertiser agreed to comply.
In its advertiser’s statement, Halotherapy Solutions stated that it accepts the NAD decision.
