DSSRC Administrative Closure #112

The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (“DSSRC”) contacted a direct selling company (“Company”) regarding three Facebook posts that were identified during DSSRC’s monitoring of the direct selling industry and disseminated by Company salesforce members.

Two of the posts in question implied that by participating in the Company’s business opportunity, salesforce members would be able to earn a substantial income that can supplement or replace their current income. The other post implied that salesforce members would be able to replace the income they have lost during the “COVID-19 crisis.”

In response to DSSRC’s inquiry, the Company contacted the salesforce members that had disseminated the claims in question and had them immediately removed.

Based upon the Company’s prompt actions to address these posts, DSSRC administratively closed the inquiry.
