    BBB National Programs’ privacy watchdog, the Digital Advertising Accountability Program (DAAP), today released a new data privacy case for the popular mobile app publisher PicsArt, outlining actions taken to date to bring the company into compliance with the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA)’s Self-Regulatory Principles.

    BBB National Programs’ Digital Advertising Accountability Program (DAAP) today released two new data privacy cases for Luxottica and Compare.com issuing recommendations and outlining actions taken to date to bring these companies into compliance with the Digital Advertising Alliance’s (DAA) Self-Regulatory Principles (DAA Principles). 
  • 4/23/2020 - Privacy group brings app publisher and website of health treatment centers into compliance with best practices

    Today, the Digital Advertising Accountability Program (DAAP) released new actions detailing its efforts to provide consumers with control over how their data is used in personalized digital advertising. The privacy watchdog brought the app developer Mammoth Media into full compliance with the Digital Advertising Alliance’s self-regulatory principles (DAA Principles), which are best practices for privacy and interest-based advertising (IBA). Separately, the program alerted Recovery Centers of America, a company that operates addiction treatment facilities, to IBA on its website which the company immediately addressed.

  • 10/28/2019 - Privacy group brings websites of pharma and apparel brands into compliance with best practices

    Today, the Digital Advertising Accountability Program released new actions detailing its efforts to provide consumers with marketplace choice about their digital privacy. As a result of consumer complaints, the privacy watchdog brought the companies Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. and PVH Corp. into compliance with the Digital Advertising Alliance’s Self-Regulatory Principles, best practices for digital ad privacy.

    The BBB National Programs’ Digital Advertising Accountability Program referred the mobile app developer PlantSnap, Inc. to the Federal Trade Commission today. The referral was initiated after PlantSnap failed to participate in a self-regulatory review process looking into data privacy practices related to geolocation data and advertising.
