3/30/2022 - Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Refers FutureNet Earnings Claims to the Federal Trade Commission for Possible Enforcement
McLean, VA – March 30, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) referred certain earnings claims to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for possible enforcement action after FutureNet, Inc., a direct selling company offering online platforms and networking services, failed to respond to DSSRC’s inquiry. At issue in DSSRC’s inquiry are earnings claims disseminated by salesforce members on social media implying that participating in the company’s business opportunity will result in earning significant, career-level income.

3/29/2022 - Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Recommends Young Living Discontinue Certain Health-Related Product Claims in Compliance Inquiry
McLean, VA – March 29, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) opened a compliance inquiry to review advertising from Young Living Essential Oils, LLC that had been the subject of an inquiry from 2020. In this compliance inquiry, DSSRC identified new claims that referred to similar health-related claims that were challenged in the 2020 inquiry, including claims that Young Living’s products can effectively treat COVID-19 and its symptoms.

3/10/2022 - Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Recommends Mary Kay Discontinue Certain Earnings Claims in Compliance Inquiry
McLean, VA – March 10, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) opened a compliance inquiry to review advertising from Mary Kay, Inc. that had been the subject of an inquiry from 2021. In this compliance inquiry, DSSRC found new social media posts that referred to the significant income that can be earned from the Mary Kay business opportunity. DSSRC recommended that these new earnings claims, made by Mary Kay salesforce members, be discontinued.

3/09/2022 - Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Recommends Morinda Discontinue Certain Earnings and Health-Related Product Performance Claims
McLean, VA – March 09, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) recommended that certain product performance and earnings claims made by Morinda, Inc. and its salesforce be discontinued. The claims that were the subject of the inquiry were disseminated by Morinda and its salesforce members on social media as well as on the company website. Morinda is a multi-level direct selling company that sells various personal care products, essential oils, and dietary supplements, including its main product, a noni juice blend sold under the brand name Tahitian Noni.

McLean, VA – January 25, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) referred certain earnings claims to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for possible enforcement action after BE Factor (also known as BE Rules and formerly known as Melius), a direct selling company that markets forex and cryptocurrency trading package subscriptions, failed to adequately respond to DSSRC’s inquiry. At issue in DSSRC’s inquiry are earnings claims disseminated by salesforce members on social media implying that participating in the company’s business opportunity will result in earning significant, career-level income.

McLean, VA – January 20, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) recommended that certain earnings claims disseminated by Surge365 and its salesforce members be discontinued. Surge365 is a multi-level direct selling company that offers discounts on hotels, rentals, cruises, flights, and other travel services. The claims that were the subject of the inquiry were disseminated on social media and the company’s website.

McLean, VA – January 19, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) opened a compliance inquiry to review advertising from Le-Vel Brands, LLC that had been the subject of an inquiry from 2020. DSSRC recommended that the new product performance and earnings claims identified in the compliance inquiry, made by Le-Vel salesforce members, be discontinued. Le-Vel is a multi-level direct selling company that sells health and wellness products. -

McLean, VA – January 18, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) recommended that certain product performance and earnings claims made by Immunotec and its salesforce be discontinued. The claims that were the subject of the inquiry were disseminated by Immunotec salesforce members on social media as well as on the company website. Immunotec is a direct selling company that sells nutritional products and supplements.

McLean, VA – December 08, 2021 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) referred certain earnings claims to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the California Attorney General's Office for possible enforcement action after Dot Dot Smile, a direct selling company that sells children’s clothing, failed to adequately respond to DSSRC’s inquiry.

McLean, VA – November 24, 2021 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) recommended that certain product performance and earnings claims made by Daxen, Inc. and its salesforce be discontinued. Central to this inquiry was a concern that the challenged product performance claims communicated aggressive and unsupported health-related product performance claims.
