New York, NY – June 29, 2020 – Following an inquiry by the National Advertising Division (NAD), INID Research Lab, LLC discontinued a social media post that conveyed an implied message that the immunity-boosting capabilities of Continual-G Glutathione Enhancer protect consumers against COVID-19. The challenged social media post showed an image of a woman wearing a face mask with the text, “Strong IMMUNITY Needs Glutathione” and associated text stating “Building your immunity during these times is more important than ever.”

Through a routine monitoring program, NAD challenged the advertisement by INID Research, noting that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have both stated that there are no approved vaccines, drugs, or investigational products currently available to treat or prevent COVID-19. Both the FDA and Federal Trade Commission have issued dozens of warning letters to companies making claims about their products’ ability to treat or prevent COVID-19. Health and safety concerns are a top priority for NAD’s monitoring efforts, with attention currently focused on advertising for COVID-19 treatments.

NAD appreciated the advertiser’s discontinuance of the social media post in question and its commitment to avoid making any express or implied claims that promote its product’s ability to protect consumers against COVID-19.

In its advertiser’s statement, INID Research stated that it has “removed any and all imagery found to be suggestive of effects of our product on preventing, treating, or mitigating” COVID-19 and that it has “no intention of inclusion of any sort of claim, express or implied, in any marketing materials associated with its products relative to this serious disease.”
