CFBAI and CCAI Publish the 2024 Annual Report on Participant Compliance and Program Progress
BBB National Programs has released the Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative (CFBAI) and Children’s Confection Advertising Initiative (CCAI) 2024 Annual Report. The Annual Report provides information about CFBAI and CCAI participant compliance with the programs’ respective Core Principles, including the commitment of CFBAI participants to not advertise any foods or beverages in media primarily directed to children or to advertise in such media only foods and beverages meeting CFBAI’s Uniform Nutrition Criteria.
The report notes excellent compliance by the 21 CFBAI participants and six CCAI participants in 2024.
The report also describes program modifications implemented in 2024, which included expanding CFBAI and CCAI participants’ commitment not to engage in child-directed food or beverage advertising in elementary schools to include middle schools and the adoption of several modifications to CFBAI’s Uniform Nutrition Criteria.
Additionally, the report discusses the continuing decline in child-directed advertising by CFBAI’s participating companies and other developments that have contributed to less food and beverage advertising to children.
For 18 years, companies participating in CFBAI have taken meaningful, voluntary action that has improved the children’s food and beverage advertising landscape. BBB National Programs encourages non-participating food, beverage, and restaurant companies to join CFBAI and CCAI program participants in that ongoing effort.
