Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Recommends Enagic USA Discontinue Certain Salesforce Earnings Claims
McLean, VA – May 15, 2026 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) of BBB National Programs recommended that Enagic USA, Inc. take additional steps to modify or discontinue certain earnings claims on social media.
The advertising claims were made by Enagic USA, a direct selling company that distributes water ionization systems. This inquiry, which included 18 claims, was commenced by DSSRC through its ongoing independent monitoring of advertising and marketing claims in the direct selling industry.
In this case, DSSRC was concerned that the subject claims communicated the message that Enagic USA salesforce members can generally expect to earn significant income from the Enagic USA business opportunity. These claims were disseminated on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
The earnings claims at issue include, but are not limited to:
Upon receiving the inquiry, Enagic USA was able to remove or modify 12 of the 18 identified posts to address DSSRC’s concerns.
Regarding the remaining posts, Enagic USA indicated that the posts originated outside of the U.S. and have been referred to the appropriate international affiliates, including Enagic Europe and Enagic Australia, for further action. Nevertheless, DSSRC has consistently recommended that direct selling companies make a bona fide, good-faith effort to request removal or modification of unsupported earnings claims that appear online in the U.S. and reference the company’s business opportunity, regardless of whether the posts originate domestically or internationally.
In addition, in the event the individuals responsible for disseminating the remaining posts are unresponsive or cannot be contacted, DSSRC recommends Enagic USA take further reasonable steps, where feasible, to address the remaining content by contacting the relevant social media platforms to advise them that the posts are unauthorized and request their removal.
DSSRC will continue to monitor Enagic USA’s efforts to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
In its statement, Enagic USA stated that it “appreciates the guidance provided by the DSSRC and shall adhere to the recommendations in the report.”
