Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Recommends Green Compass Discontinue Certain Salesforce Earnings Claims

McLean, VA – July 27, 2026 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) of BBB National Programs recommended that Green Compass LLC take additional steps to modify or discontinue certain earnings claims on social media.

The advertising claims were made by Green Compass, a direct selling company that markets hemp-based wellness products, including CBD oils, tinctures, gummies, capsules, topicals, terpenes, flavonoids, and related nutritional/wellness products. This inquiry, which included 17 claims, was commenced by DSSRC through its ongoing independent monitoring of advertising and marketing claims in the direct selling industry.

In this case, DSSRC was concerned that the subject claims communicated the message that Green Compass salesforce members can generally expect to achieve substantial income and rewards through participation in the Green Compass business opportunity. These claims were disseminated on Facebook and Instagram.

The earnings claims at issue include, but are not limited to:
  • “#FinancialFreedom”
  • “Green Compass isn’t just a business—it’s been the vehicle to resiliency, financial freedom”
  • “building financial freedom”
  • “…As a teacher, I’ve always worked hard, but no matter how much effort I put in, achieving the financial freedom and flexibility I dreamed of for my family felt impossible…”
  • “ Financial Flexibility – Whether you’re looking for extra spending money or a full-time income, this opportunity is designed to fit your lifestyle. You set your own pace, work from anywhere, and have the freedom to grow your business in a way that works for you.”
  • “You can spend just 30 minutes to an hour a day and grow a side income that can help with bills, groceries, debt, or even saving for a vacation. This business is flexible, and you decide how much you want to put into it—and how much you want to get out of it. The potential? You’re in control. Whether it’s an extra $500 a month or turning it into a full-time salary, it’s all about your goals. The best part? We get paid more by helping more people, which makes this feel so rewarding on a personal level. Why now? Let’s be real—in today’s world, having an additional income stream can make all the difference. And the beauty of this business is that you can do it your way, on your time. Plus, there’s $6,500 in bonuses available right out of the gate if you’re ready to dive in and grow quickly.”
  • “What could an extra $500 a month do for your family? Groceries, gas, sports fees, Christmas gifts… or maybe just that extra breathing room we all crave   #FInancialFreedom”
  • “This little side gig has saved my a$$ recently. After being out on a Leave of Absence for 4 weeks, the only paycheck I have gotten to date is from Green Compass, due to a string of red tape and paper work. Now I'm not retiring in the South of France anytime soon bc of it, but to know that my mortgage and monthly bills can still be covered, has me beyond grateful.”
  • “In just 2 months, I’ve paid for Yliana’s VERY expensive club volleyball fees with my Green Compass paycheck.”
  • “Most of you know I partnered with Green Compass back in December, and it’s been a life-changing decision—not just for our wellness but for our financial wellness too!... #HempOpportunity #CBDIncome #WorkFromAnywhere #HempWellness #FinancialFreedom.”

Upon receiving the inquiry, Green Compass was able to remove or modify 12 of the 17 identified posts to address DSSRC’s concerns.

DSSRC remained concerned that five posts, which included representations regarding “financial freedom,” “full-time salary” income potential, and quantified earnings representations referencing bonuses and income, are still accessible to the public.

Green Compass indicated that several of the remaining posts were disseminated by former salesforce members and that those posts had been reported to the applicable social media platforms. DSSRC appreciated Green Compass’ good-faith efforts.

Two posts that remain publicly accessible have not been addressed, and DSSRC was not provided with evidence demonstrating that outreach had been made to either the salesforce members responsible for disseminating the posts or Facebook to advise the platform that the claims were unauthorized and request their removal. Accordingly, DSSRC recommends that Green Compass take additional steps to remove the posts, including commenting on the post, where possible, that the earnings representations contained in the posts have not been authorized by Green Compass.

In its statement, Green Compass stated that it appreciates “the opportunity to respond to the DSSRC’s inquiry and confirm our commitment to implementing the recommendations outlined in the report.”
