Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Recommends Senegence Modify or Discontinue Certain Earnings Claims
McLean, VA – May 6, 2025 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) of BBB National Programs recommended that Senegence International, a multi-level marketing company that markets skincare and cosmetic products, modify or discontinue earnings claims made by Senegence and its salesforce members.
The earnings claims at issue were identified by DSSRC through its ongoing, independent monitoring of advertising claims in the direct selling industry.
The earnings claims that formed the basis of this inquiry include, but were not limited to:
DSSRC was concerned that the challenged claims communicated the message that salesforce members can generally expect to earn significant earnings incentives or full-time income from the Senegence business opportunity.
Senegence did not attempt to support the earnings claims that were brought to its attention and took immediate action to expeditiously remove the claims at issue. DSSRC confirmed that four of the six claims identified were removed.
Regarding the remaining Facebook post, Senegence contacted the salesforce members responsible for the post and though the post was subsequently modified, the modification did not adequately address DSSRC’s concerns so further modifications were requested to disclose material information regarding the incentive reward.
The remaining LinkedIn post was made by an inactive salesforce member. Because Senegence has been unsuccessful in contacting the inactive salesforce member, DSSRC recommends Senegence attempt to contact LinkedIn to inform them of the unauthorized statement and request that it be removed. DSSRC appreciated Senegence’s continued good faith efforts to address its concerns.
