DSSRC Administrative Closure #63
DSSRC contacted a direct selling company about a social media post disseminated by a salesforce member. The subject social media post came to DSSRC’s attention pursuant to its independent monitoring of advertising in the direct selling marketplace. Specifically, DSSRC expressed concern that the social media post conveyed unsubstantiated product health and wellness benefit claims related to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The post in question directly stated that the Company’s products help in, strengthening the immune system which is one of the proactive ways that one must deal with the current pandemic. The post also contained a photo of the Company’s products.
In response to DSSRC’s inquiry, the Company informed DSSRC that they forwarded the message to their Ethics team in order to investigate the post. As a result of the investigation the post was removed.
DSSRC expressed its appreciation to the Company for its efforts in removing the post. As a result of the prompt actions taken by the Company, DSSRC administratively closed the inquiry.
