DSSRC Administrative Closure #95
The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) contacted a direct selling company (“Company”) regarding two Facebook posts that referenced the ability of one of the Company’s products to treat a number of health-related conditions including, but not limited to, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes and depression. Both of the posts were disseminated by the Company’s international salesforce members.
The Company did not dispute inaccuracy of the claims and did not attempt to provide evidentiary support. Conversely, once the Company was made aware of the two posts, it immediately coordinated with supervisors of the salesforce members and requested that the post be removed. Accordingly, DSSRC confirmed that the two posts were disabled shortly after the Company’s receipt of the DSSRC inquiry.
DSSRC expressed its appreciation to the company for its prompt actions and, as a result, DSSRC administratively closed the inquiry.
