DSSRC Administrative Closure #171
The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (“DSSRC”) contacted a direct selling company (the “Company”) regarding three Facebook posts that were disseminated by salesforce members of the company. DSSRC expressed concern that all three posts communicated the message that the Company’s products were effective in treating health-related conditions including, but not limited to, cancer, autism, diabetes, and anxiety. Two of the subject posts referred to the Company’s products being effective in the treatment of such health-related conditions in children. The posts were identified by DSSRC pursuant to its ongoing, independent monitoring of the direct selling industry.
DSSRC brought these posts to the attention of the Company and the Company promptly responded, promising to review and remove the non-compliant posts. The three posts were taken down shortly thereafter.
DSSRC appreciated the Company’s immediate, good faith efforts in reviewing and removing the posts that were brought to its attention. As a result of the Company’s actions, DSSRC administratively closed this inquiry.
