Case Decisions

DSSRC Administrative Closure #133

The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) contacted a direct selling company (“Company”) regarding three identical Facebook posts disseminated by three separate salesforce members. The subject claims and social media posts came to DSSRC’s attention pursuant to its independent monitoring of advertising in the direct selling marketplace.

DSSRC was concerned that the health-related claims conveyed unsubstantiated health and wellness benefits including claims that the Company’s products have been shown to improve mood disorders, attention deficit disorders, as well as respiratory diseases. After receiving DSSRC’s inquiry, the claims were soon disabled thereafter.

Accordingly, based upon the prompt actions taken by the Company to disable the social media posts, this inquiry was administratively closed pursuant to the DSSRC Policy & Procedures.
