Case Decisions

DSSRC Administrative Closure #147

The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (“DSSRC”) contacted a direct selling company (the “Company”) regarding a number of social media posts disseminated by company salesforce members on Facebook. The subject claims came to DSSRC’s attention pursuant to its independent monitoring of advertising in the direct selling marketplace.

DSSRC expressed concern to the direct selling company that the earnings claims conveyed unsubstantiated expectations regarding the amount of income that could be earned working at the Company. In response to the DSSRC’s inquiry, the Company promptly contacted the salesforce members that made the social media posts and had the posts removed. Based upon the Company’s good faith actions to address the concerns of DSSRC, DSSRC administratively closed the inquiry.
