DSSRC Administrative Closure #170

DSSRC contacted a direct selling company regarding three social media posts disseminated by salesforce members that communicated the efficacy of the Company’s products to treat ADHD in children, COVID-19 and other health-related conditions. The social media posts came to DSSRC’s attention pursuant to its independent monitoring of advertising in the direct selling marketplace. 

The Company responded to DSSRC on the same day that the inquiry was opened and immediately removed the three posts. The Company noted that the salesforce members were reached by its legal staff concerning the respective posts and educated in conformity with Company compliance protocols concerning impermissible product claims.  The incidents were documented in the permanent files of the sales force members responsible for the posts.

DSSRC expressed its appreciation to the Company for its due diligence in promptly addressing DSSRC’s concerns and the efforts to educate its salesforce. As a result of the prompt actions taken by the Company, DSSRC administratively closed the inquiry.
