The Children’s Advertising Review Unit has recommended that Idea Village Products Corp., which markets the Bright Light Pillow more clearly disclose to children that batteries are not included in the purchase of the product. -
11/13/2012 - NAD Recommends Healthy Directions Discontinue Certain Claims at Issue for ‘Joint Advantage Gold’ Supplement
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Healthy Directions, LLC, discontinue certain advertising claims for the company’s Joint Advantage Gold dietary supplement, including claims that the product eases pain in seven days and is made with ingredients traditionally used by the Aboriginal people of Australia. The company said it will appeal NAD’s findings to the National Advertising Review Board. -
11/13/2012 - NAD Recommends Capital One Discontinue Certain Claims for Spark Cards; Company to Appeals NAD’s Findings
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Capital One Bank (USA), N.A., discontinue print, broadcast, and website advertising challenged by Chase Bank USA, N.A. Capital One said it will appeal NAD’s decision to the National Advertising Review Board. -
11/13/2012 - NAD Finds Sumo Logic Took Necessary Action in Discontinuing Comparative Claims Against Splunk
The National Advertising Division has determined that Sumo Logic took necessary action in discontinuing advertising claims challenged by Splunk, Inc., a maker of software for log management and analytic systems. -
11/11/2012 - NAD Recommends Verizon Modify, Discontinue Certain Comparative Superiority Claims for FiOS
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Verizon modify certain broadcast advertising to avoid conveying the falsely disparaging, unsupported message that Internet service provided by cable companies is significantly slower than Verizon’s fiber-optic FiOS service. -
10/25/2012 - NAD Reviews Claims for V8 Juices Following Ocean Spray Challenge
The National Advertising Division has determined that Campbell Soup Company can support advertising claims for original V8 Vegetable Juice, challenged before NAD by Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. -
10/11/2012 - NAD Finds Generac Violated NAD Procedures in Communication to Customers
The National Advertising Division has determined that Generac, the maker of home generators, violated the procedures that govern the advertising industry’s system of self-regulation. Generac promoted the outcome of a case heard by NAD directly to Generac customers and, in the process, mischaracterized NAD’s findings. -
10/09/2012 - NAD Finds Kohler Violated NAD Procedures in Communication to Customers
The National Advertising Division has determined that Kohler Co. violated the procedures that govern the advertising industry’s system of self-regulation by promoting the outcome of a case directly to Kohler customers. -
10/01/2012 - Accountability Program Looks Under Hood of Online Ad Campaign
The Online Interest-Based Advertising Accountability Program today released five decisions following inquiries into whether an online interest-based advertising campaign for Kia Motors America was consistent with the Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising (OBA Principles). -
9/27/2012 - NAD Finds McNabb Can Support Modified Claims for ‘Natural’ Sunscreen
The National Advertising Division has determined that McNabb Nutraceuticals, LLC, can support, with appropriate disclosures, claims that its Sunology Sunblock is a natural or chemical-free sunscreen. NAD recommended, however, that the company discontinue claims that the product moisturizes, as well.
