10/25/2022 - Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Recommends Visi Discontinue Certain Health-Related Product Performance Claims
McLean, VA – October 25, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) of BBB National Programs recommended that certain health-related product performance claims made by Visi and its salesforce members be discontinued. The inquiry was commenced by DSSRC through its ongoing independent monitoring of advertising and marketing claims in the direct selling industry.

10/20/2022 - Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Recommends B-Epic Discontinue Certain Earnings and Product Performance Claims
McLean, VA – October 20, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) recommended that certain product performance and earnings claims made by B-Epic Worldwide, LLC and its salesforce be discontinued. B-Epic is a direct-selling company that markets health, detox, and fitness products. -
10/20/2022 - NARB Finds Glee Gum’s “Plant-Based,” “Made with Chicle,” “Natural,” Claims Supported; Recommends Discontinuance of “Plastic Free” Claims
New York, NY – October 20, 2022 – A panel of the National Advertising Review Board (NARB), the appellate advertising decision body of BBB National Programs, has determined that Mazee, LLC has reasonable support for claims that its Glee Gum is “plant-based,” “made with chicle,” and “natural.” However, the NARB Panel recommended that the advertiser discontinue claims that Glee Gum is “plastic-free.”

10/19/2022 - In Reopened Proceeding, National Advertising Division Finds “#1 Dermatologist Recommended Skincare Brand” Claim for L’Oréal’s CeraVe Now Supported
New York, NY – October 19, 2022 – In a reopened case arising from the petition of a prior decision, the National Advertising Division (NAD) of BBB National Programs determined that L’Oréal USA, Inc. has now provided a reasonable basis for its claim that CeraVe is the “#1 dermatologist recommended skincare brand.”

10/18/2022 - Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Refers Root Wellness Claims to the Federal Trade Commission for Possible Enforcement Action
McLean, VA – October 18, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC), after a lack of compliance with DSSRC recommendations and an inability to substantiate a growing list of health-related product performance claims, referred Root Wellness to the FTC and other government agencies for possible enforcement action.

10/12/2022 - National Advertising Division Finds Certain WhatsApp Express Claims Supported; WhatsApp Appeals NAD Recommendation to Discontinue or Modify Unsupported Claims
New York, NY – October 12, 2022 – The National Advertising Division (NAD) of BBB National Programs determined that WhatsApp, LLC provided a reasonable basis for express claims for its WhatsApp messaging service analogizing SMS text messages to “open mail” and that WhatsApp did not overstate the vulnerability of SMS text messages compared to end-to-end encrypted messaging.

10/05/2022 - Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council Refers Fifth Avenue Collection Earnings Claims to the Federal Trade Commission for Possible Enforcement Action
McLean, VA – October 5, 2022 – The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) referred certain Fifth Avenue Collection, Inc. earnings claims to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for possible enforcement action after the multi-level direct selling company selling jewelry products failed to respond to DSSRC’s inquiry.

9/28/2022 - NAD Finds Certain Claims Comparing Comcast Xfinity Internet Speed to AT&T Supported; Recommends Others be Modified or Discontinued
New York, NY – September 28, 2022 – The National Advertising Division (NAD) determined that Comcast Cable Communications, LLC provided a reasonable basis for certain internet speed claims, however, NAD recommended that Comcast modify its “Everyone Likes to Go Fast” radio commercial and discontinue other speed-related claims.

9/15/2022 - NAD Recommends Modification of Disclosures Used in Connection with Comcast Xfinity Mobile vs. Verizon 5G Comparative Savings Claims
New York, NY – September 15, 2022 – The National Advertising Division (NAD) determined that comparative savings claims made by Comcast Cable Communications, LLC about its Xfinity Mobile 5G service plan would not be misleading when compared with the cheapest two Ultra Wideband 5G plans by Verizon Communications, Inc., provided that disclosures were adequate.
