8/01/2019 - NAD Recommends Guthy-Renker Discontinue Certain Performance Claims for Crepe Erase, Finds Certain Claims Supported; Advertiser to Appeal
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Guthy-Renker discontinue or modify certain express and implied performance claims in video and internet advertising for its Crepe Erase Anti-Aging Body Care Treatment System. The advertiser has said it will appeal part of NAD’s findings to the National Advertising Review Board. Guthy-Renker’s Crepe Erase Anti-Aging Body Care Treatment System consists of two products intended to be used sequentially: (1) Exfoliating Body Polish; and (2) Intensive Body Repair Treatment. -
7/29/2019 - Following NAD Inquiry, Weighting Comforts to Modify, Discontinue Certain Performance Claims for its Weighted Blankets
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Weighting Comforts, LLC modify an advertising claim that its weighted blankets improve sleep, and discontinue a claim that its weighted blankets reduce anxiety. -
7/23/2019 - NAD Recommends Wink Naturals Discontinue Certain Challenged Claims for Cough Syrup Product
Following a challenge by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., the National Advertising Division recommended that Wink Naturals LLC discontinue certain challenged claims in online and social media advertising for its Cough Syrup dietary supplement. -
7/18/2019 - CARU Finds Snap, Inc. Complies with COPPA. Company goes beyond minimal procedures to prevent under-age use.
The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) found that Snap, Inc. (“Snap”) takes effective measures to ensure that under-age children do not use its service. After carefully reviewing Snap’s procedures, CARU held that the company goes beyond the minimum requirements and incorporates higher-level safety design features to ensure that under-age children are not able to use Snapchat. -
7/17/2019 - NAD Recommends Wink Naturals Discontinue Certain Challenged Claims for Zen Drops, Including Use of the Hashtag #mentalhealthawareness
Following a challenge by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., the National Advertising Division recommended that Wink Naturals LLC discontinue certain challenged anxiety relief, natural, and drug-free claims in product packaging, website, social media, and third-party advertising for its Zen Drops. -
7/16/2019 - Certain Advertising Claims for Aunt Fannie’s Pest Control Products Permanently Discontinued Following NAD Challenge
Aunt Fannie’s, Inc. stated that it will permanently discontinue certain challenged express and implied claims for its pest control products in website, social media and product packaging advertising, following a challenge before the National Advertising Division by competitor S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. -
7/15/2019 - NAD Recommends Nectar Sleep Discontinue “Limited Offer” Claim Following Challenge by Tuft & Needle
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Nectar Sleep LLC discontinue challenged advertising claims for the company’s Nectar Mattress. The truth and accuracy of the advertiser’s claims, in retail, online, and social media advertising, was brought to the attention of NAD by Tuft & Needle, LLC, maker of competing mattresses. -
7/11/2019 - Hawaiian Telcom Agrees to Modify, Discontinue Certain Claims Related to its High-Speed Internet Service and for its TV Service Following Challenge by Charter
Hawaiian Telcom has agreed to modify or discontinue certain claims for its fiber internet and television services, following a challenge by Charter Communications, Inc. Further, the National Advertising Division recommended that Hawaiian Telcom discontinue or modify comparative superior performance claims, implied disparaging performance claims, and its “fastest internet” claim. -
7/10/2019 - NAD Recommends Reckitt Benckiser Discontinue Certain Challenged Claims for Dimensions Home Fragrance, Finds Certain Claims Supported
The National Advertising Division recommended that Reckitt Benckiser discontinue certain challenged claims for Dimensions Home Fragrance, following a challenge by S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., maker of Glade home fragrances and products. Reckitt Benckiser’s Dimensions Home Fragrance product is a personalized fragrance box containing a diffuser and/or fragrance refill that is shipped directly to a consumer’s home. -
6/28/2019 - Advertising Claims for No Added Sugars Permanently Discontinued for Oatly Oatmilk Products Following NAD Challenge
Oatly, Inc., producer of various oatmilk products, has advised the National Advertising Division that it has permanently discontinued certain challenged “no added sugars” claims in its advertising for Barista Edition Oatmilk, Oatmilk Chilled, Low-fat Oatmilk Chilled, and Chocolate Oatmilk Chilled.
