The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined that Procter & Gamble Co. took proper action in voluntarily discontinuing a television commercial that included an unsupported message of product superiority for Ultra Downy April Fresh Liquid fabric softener. NAD recommended the company modify or discontinue another commercial that conveyed the same unsupported message. -
5/11/2011 - CARU Examines Consumer-Generated Imagery In Advertising For Mega Brands ‘Dragons Universe’
The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined that advertising for MEGA Brands, Inc., “Dragons Universe” construction sets could, through the use of computer-generated imagery, mislead children as to the capabilities of the advertised toys. -
5/11/2011 - CARU Recommends Microsoft Modify Kinectimals Advertising to Better Disclose Material Information
The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc., has recommended that Microsoft modify for advertising for its Kinectimals video game to assure that children understand that playing the game requires the purchase of a new platform, the Kinect sensor. -

The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined that Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., can support certain superiority claims for the company’s Acuvue Oasys contact lenses. However, NAD – the advertising industry’s self-regulatory forum – recommended that the company discontinue certain claims. -

5/04/2011 - NAD Recommends Philips Discontinue Certain Claims for Sonicare Flexcare Products; Finds Company Can Support Certain Claims
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that Philips Oral Healthcare, Inc., discontinue certain advertising claims for the Sonicare FlexCare and FlexCare+ toothbrushes. NAD determined, however, that the company could support certain claims, including the claim that “Sonicare FlexCare+ Is The #1 Recommended Brand By Dental Professionals.” -
5/04/2011 - CARU Refers Website Operator Club Penguin Planet To FTC For Further Review
The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc., has referred Website operator Club Penguin Planet to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), following the operator’s refusal to participate in a CARU review of its privacy practices. -
5/04/2011 - CARU Recommends Burger King Modify Advertising To Stress Product Over Premium
The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc., has recommended that Burger King modify broadcast advertising to assure that the depiction of food, rather than the depiction of the premium offered with a children’s meal, is primary.
