2/08/2018 - NAD Recommend Guardian Technologies Discontinue Challenged Claims for Germ Guardian Air Purifiers and Replacement Filters, Company to Appeal
The National Advertising Division has recommended Guardian Technologies, LLC, the maker of GermGuardian Air Purifiers and Replacement Filters, discontinue certain advertising claims for the products, including claims that are based on the results of proprietary testing. Guardian said it will appeal that finding to the National Advertising Review Board. -
2/05/2018 - NAD Refers Advertising Claims for Pharmavite’s NatureMade Omega-3 Xtra Blend Dietary Supplement After Advertiser Declines to Comply with Recommendation
The National Advertising Division has referred an absorption claim made by Pharmavite, LLC for its NatureMade Omega-3 Xtra Blend Dietary Supplement to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for further review, after the advertiser said it would not comply with NAD recommendations. -
2/02/2018 - NAD Recommends DirecTV Discontinue ‘Worry-Free’ Reliability Claim; Advertiser to Appeal
The National Advertising Division has recommended that DirecTV, LLC, discontinue certain advertising claims for the company’s satellite television service, including the claim that its service provides “worry-free” reliability. DirecTV said it will appeal NAD’s adverse findings to the National Advertising Review Board. -
2/01/2018 - Ultra Max Health Says it Will Permanently Discontinue Claims for Max Synapse Supplements Following NAD Inquiry
UltraMax Health, Inc. the maker of Max Synapse dietary supplements, said the company has elected to voluntarily, permanently discontinue advertising claims for Max Synapse dietary supplements, following an inquiry by the National Advertising Division. -
1/30/2018 - NAD Examines Revised Claims for Olivet Pet Food Storage Containers Following Challenge by Van Ness Plastic Molding
Olivet International, Inc., a manufacturer of plastic pet food storage containers, said it has permanently discontinued advertising claims that the company’s products are made of recycled material and that they are “BPA free and food safe.” -
1/29/2018 - NAD Recommends Charter Discontinue One Version of ‘Monsters’ Commercial Following DirecTV Challenge and Modify Another; Company to Appeal
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Charter Communications discontinue the claim “TV that cuts out in the rain is evil. Spectrum is reliable. Satellite TV Bad. Spectrum Good,” in the context of a commercial in which the Grim Reaper complains about his family’s satellite dish “went out in the rain.” -

The National Advertising Division has recommended that Chattem, Inc., the maker of Xyzal Allergy 24HR medication, discontinue claims that convey the message that the product’s “smart” or “wise” design confers a clinically meaningful benefit compared to Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc.’s Zyrtec. -
1/16/2018 - NAD Refers StubHub Pricing Claims to FTC for Further Review After Advertiser Declines to Comply with NAD Decision on Disclosures
The National Advertising Division has referred pricing claims made at StubHub.com, an online ticket exchange, to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) after the company declined to comply with NAD’s recommendations to more clearly disclose the additional taxes and fees applied to each ticket purchase. -
