10/21/2009 - NAD Reviews Advertising for Summit Vetpharm’s Vectra, Vectra 3D, Following Bayer Challenge
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that Summit VetPharm LLC modify or discontinue certain advertising claims for its Vectra and Vectra 3D flea protection products for dogs and cats. The company will appeal certain NAD findings to the National Advertising Review Board. -
10/20/2009 - NAD Reviews Cox “Powerboost” Claims Following Challenge By Qwest
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined that Cox Communications provided reasonable support for certain advertising claims made for the company’s high-speed Internet service, but recommended that Cox clearly and conspicuously disclose in future advertising a limitation of PowerBoost – i.e., that PowerBoost provides a burst of speed available for the first 18 to 22 megabytes of a file download. -
10/01/2009 - NAD Reviews Advertising for Bayer’s ‘Aleve’ Liquid Gels, Finds Claims Substantiated by Bayer’s Evidence
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined that Bayer Healthcare, LLC, can substantiate claims made in packaging, television, print, and Internet advertising for Aleve and Aleve Liquid Gels products. -
9/17/2009 - NAD Reviews University Medical’s Claims for ‘Acne Free’ Products Following Challenge by Neutrogena
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that University Medical Products USA, Inc., discontinue certain claims for the company’s AcneFree Clear Skin Treatments and AcneFree Severe Acne System. NAD determined that certain claims made for the products were supported by the advertiser’s evidence. -
9/17/2009 - NAD Recommends L’oreal Modify Certain Claims for High Resolution Refill 3X Facial Cream
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus determined that L’Oreal USA has a reasonable basis for certain advertising claims made for its LANCÔME PARIS High Resolution Refill-3X facial cream but recommended the advertiser modify others. -
9/14/2009 - NAD Finds Brain Research can Support Certain Claims for ‘Procera AVH,’ but Recommends Company Discontinue Certain Claims
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined that Brain Research Labs can support certain advertising claims for the dietary supplement “Procera AVH,” including claims made in testimonials.” NAD recommended, however, that certain claims be discontinued. -
9/14/2009 - NAD Determines P&G can Support Claims for ‘Align’, Advertiser Voluntarily Discontinues Certain Claims
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined that Procter & Gamble can support certain advertising claims for the company’s “Align” dietary supplement, including a doctor-recommended claim. NAD determined, as well, that the company took appropriate action in voluntarily discontinuing certain “clinically proven” claims. -
9/14/2009 - NAD Recommends Unilever Modify Certain Claims For “Dove Therapy” Hair Conditioners
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined that Unilever United States, Inc., had a reasonable basis for certain advertising claims made for its Dove Therapy hair conditioners, but recommended the advertiser modify implied claims regarding the product’s ability to “restore shine.” -
9/03/2009 - NAD Finds Sensa can Support Express Claims for Weight-Loss Product, but Recommends Sensa Discontinue Certain Testimonials
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined Sensa Products LLC provided reasonable support for express claims made in advertising for its weight-loss product, Sensa. However, NAD has recommended that the advertiser discontinue unsupported testimonials. -
8/31/2009 - NAD Recommends Kaplan PMBR Modify, Discontinue Certain Claims for Bar Exam Prep Test; Finds Support for Summer Pass Rate Claim
The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that Kaplan Inc., provider of the Kaplan PMBR Bar Exam Preparation supplemental and full service bar review course, modify or discontinue certain claims for the bar review course.
