    The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that BP America, Inc., modify or discontinue certain advertising claims for the company’s Castrol GTX motor oil. BP America has indicated it will appeal NAD’s finding to the National Advertising Review Board.

    Advertising claims made in the context of viral videos produced to build interest in a product are subject to the same standards of truth and accuracy as advertisements published in traditional media, The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus said today.

    The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that BioTech Corporation International, which markets the DermaSilk Anti-Wrinkle dietary supplement, modify or discontinue certain claims for the product.


  • 11/14/2008 - NAD Refers Advertising for Captain D’s to Government Agencies for Further Review

    The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus referred advertising by Captain D’s, LLC, to the appropriate government agencies for further review, after Captain D’s declined to participate in an NAD review.

    The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended NeatReceipts, Inc., modify Internet advertising for the company’s Neat Business Cards Reader.
  • 11/03/2008 - NAD Examines Advertising From Indoor Tanning Association

    The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that the Indoor Tanning Association discontinue advertising that suggests tanning or sunbathing is necessary to achieve natural production of Vitamin D or conveys the unsupported message that that there is no evidence linking tanning to the development of cancer.

    The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that The Winning Combination discontinue certain advertising claims for the company’s Resolve Stop Smoking Aid, including claims made in testimonials.
  • 10/28/2008 - Gerber, Beech-Nut Participate in NAD Forum

    The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation discontinue claims that suggest that its “Good Morning” and “Good Evening” baby-food products would improve an infant’s attentiveness or allow the infant to learn better or grow faster.
  • 10/21/2008 - NAD Examines Advertising for Natrol”s Biosil

    The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has determined that Natrol, Inc., has provided reasonable support for certain advertising claims made for the company’s BioSil dietary supplement.  NAD has recommended the company modify or discontinue certain claims.

    The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus has recommended that Kraft Foods, Inc. discontinue an unsupported taste-preference claim made in advertising for the company’s Tombstone brand pepperoni pizza.
