5/12/2023 - Children’s Advertising Review Unit Finds Roblox in Violation of Its Advertising Guidelines; Recommends Modifications and Compliance Monitoring
McLean, VA – May 12, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) has found Roblox in violation of CARU Advertising Guidelines for responsible advertising to children under age 13. This case also reviewed privacy concerns that will be addressed with Roblox's COPPA Safe Harbor.

11/01/2022 - CARU Finds Gameloft’s Disney Getaway Blast App in Violation of COPPA and CARU’s Advertising and Privacy Guidelines; Gameloft Agrees to Corrective Actions
McLean, VA – November 1, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) has found Gameloft S.A. in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and CARU’s Self-Regulatory Guidelines for Advertising and for Children’s Online Privacy Protection. Upon receipt of CARU’s inquiry, Gameloft proactively implemented changes to address CARU’s concerns regarding its advertising and privacy practices and continues to take other corrective actions to address the remaining violations.

9/07/2022 - CARU Finds Tilting Point Media in Violation of COPPA and CARU’s Advertising and Privacy Guidelines; Company Agrees to Corrective Actions
McLean, VA – September 7, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) found Tilting Point Media, owner and operator of the SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off app, in violation of COPPA and CARU’s Self-Regulatory Guidelines for Advertising and for Children’s Online Privacy Protection.

8/10/2022 - Moose Toys Discontinues its Fail Fix Dolls Advertising to Comply with Children’s Advertising Review Unit Guidelines on Negative Social Stereotypes
McLean, VA – August 10, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) has determined that Moose Toys product advertising to children for its Fail Fix Total Makeover Dolls failed to comply with CARU’s Advertising Guidelines, specifically a provision stating that advertising should not portray or encourage negative social stereotyping, prejudice, or discrimination.

8/02/2022 - Children’s Advertising Review Unit Finds Firefly Games in Violation of COPPA and CARU’s Advertising and Privacy Guidelines; Company Agrees to Corrective Actions
McLean, VA – August 2, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) of BBB National Programs has found Firefly Games, owner and operator of the LOL Surprise! Room Makeover app, in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and CARU’s Self-Regulatory Guidelines for Advertising and for Children’s Online Privacy Protection. Firefly Games agreed to correct the violations.

7/14/2022 - Primark Modifies its Advertising to Comply with Children’s Advertising Review Unit Guidelines
McLean, VA – July 14, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) has determined that Primark US Corp.’s product advertising to children failed to comply with CARU’s Advertising Guidelines, specifically a new provision, which became effective in January of this year, stating that advertising should not portray or encourage negative social stereotyping, prejudice, or discrimination. CARU recommended that the advertiser modify its gender-restrictive advertising and Primark has agreed to the modifications.

7/06/2022 - Children’s Advertising Review Unit Finds Outright Games in Violation of COPPA and CARU’s Advertising and Privacy Guidelines; Company Agrees to Corrective Actions
McLean, VA – July 6, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) has found Outright Games, owner and operator of the Bratz Total Fashion Makeover app, in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and CARU’s Self-Regulatory Guidelines for Advertising and for Children’s Online Privacy Protection. Outright Games agreed to correct the violations.

3/17/2022 - Children’s Advertising Review Unit Recommends Jazwares Modify Misleading Ads and Product Packaging for Micro Machines; Company Agrees to Comply
McLean, VA – March 17, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) determined that Jazwares advertising and product packaging for Micro Machines Corvette and World of Micro Machines Playsets were likely to mislead children. CARU also determined that Jazwares’ Micro Machines Corvette video advertisement unrealistically depicted how the playset can perform. CARU recommended that the advertiser modify the advertisements and product packaging to clearly depict what the product sets include, to make clear and conspicuous disclosures where needed, and in the case of the Corvette ads, to accurately depict how the cars perform.

3/16/2022 - Children’s Advertising Review Unit Recommends Moose Toys Include Disclosures and Adult Supervision in Gotta Go Turdle Ads; Company Agrees to Comply
McLean, VA – March 16, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) recommended that Moose Toys modify its television and YouTube advertisements promoting the Little Live Pets Gotta Go Turdle, as well as the product’s packaging, to include clear and conspicuous disclosures that children should not eat the purple aqua-sand Turdle food. CARU also recommended that future advertisements depict adult supervision whenever a child is shown playing with the toy.

3/08/2022 - Children’s Advertising Review Unit Finds TickTalk Tech in Violation of COPPA and CARU’s Privacy Guidelines; Company Agrees to Corrective Actions
McLean, VA – March 08, 2022 – The Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) of BBB National Programs has found TickTalk Tech, LLC, owner and operator of the TickTalk 4 Smart Watch phone and coordinating app, in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and CARU’s Self-Regulatory Guidelines for Children’s Online Privacy Protection. TickTalk agreed to correct the violations.
