11/07/2013 - NAD Recommends Honeywell Drop ‘Universal Compatibility’ Claim for Programmable Thermostats; Advertiser to Appeal
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Honeywell International, Inc., discontinue certain claims that the company’s Programmable Thermostats are “universally compatible.” Honeywell said it will appeal that finding to the National Advertising Review Board. -
10/31/2013 - NAD Finds Walden Farms can Substantiate Certain Claims for ‘Calorie Free Whipped Peanut Spreads,’ Recommends Company Discontinue Certain Claims
The National Advertising Division has determined that Walden Farms, Inc., can support certain claims for its Calorie Free Whipped Peanut Spreads, but recommended the advertiser discontinue certain claims. -
10/24/2013 - CARU Reviews ‘Keep Out of Reach of Children’ Ad for Anti-Itch Products
The Children’s Advertising Review Unit has recommended that Blistex, Inc., discontinue advertising the company’s “Maximum Strength Ivarest Poison Ivy Itch Cream” and “Ivarest Medicated Poison Ivy Cleansing Foam” in editions of “Boys Life” magazine that are geared to younger Boy Scouts. -

The National Advertising Division has determined that eSalon, the maker of custom hair-color products, can support express claims made on its website and across social-media channels. -
10/23/2013 - NAD Advises Advertisers to Discontinue Claims at Issue, Not Just Individual Advertisements, if Seeking Administrative Closure
The National Advertising Division, in a challenge brought by AT&T Services, Inc., against advertising claims made by Comcast Communications, Inc., advised advertisers that it will retain jurisdiction over advertising claims at issue in a challenge unless advertisers agree to permanently discontinue the claims, not just the advertisement in which the claims appeared. -
10/22/2013 - NAD Finds STIHL Can Support ‘Built in America’ Claim, Recommends More Prominent Disclaimer
The National Advertising Division has determined that STIHL Incorporated can support a “Built in America” advertising claim featured in national advertising, but recommended the company make an accompanying disclosure more prominent. -

The Children’s Advertising Review Unit has recommended that Hyperion, an imprint of Disney Book Group avoid advertising the young-adult book series “W.A.R.P” to children. -
10/16/2013 - NAD Recommends Maximum Human Performance Discontinue Claims at Issue for ‘MYO-X Myostatin Inhibitor’
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Maximum Human Performance, LLC, which markets the dietary supplement MYO-X Myostatin Inhibitor, discontinue the advertising claims and testimonials at issue in NAD’s review. -
10/16/2013 - NAD Examines Advertising Claims for Drug Delivery Systems Designed to Protect Health Care Workers; Separate Challenges Filed by BD, ICU
The National Advertising Division, in separate challenges brought by ICU Medical Inc. (ICU), and Becton, Dickinson & Company (BD), examined advertising for devices that are designed to help protect healthcare workers from the risks posed by working with hazardous drugs, including drugs used for chemotherapy. -
