The Children’s Advertising Review Unit has recommended that Mattel implement an age-screening mechanism at the website Barbiethedreamcloset.com, to prevent child visitors from accessing a widget that would take them to a social media site intended for adults. -
7/24/2012 - NAD Finds Oracle Took Necessary Action in Discontinuing Comparative Performance Claims for Exadata; Oracle to Appeal NAD Decision
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Oracle Corporation discontinue certain comparative product-performance claims for the company’s Exadata database machines, following a challenge by International Business Machines Corporation. Oracle said it would voluntarily discontinue the challenged claims, but noted that it would appeal NAD’s decision to the National Advertising Review Board. -
7/23/2012 - NAD Recommends Reynolds Modify Certain Advertising Claims for Hefty Bags Following Challenge by Ziploc Maker, S.C. Johnson
The National Advertising Division has recommended Reynolds Consumer Products, the maker of Hefty Slider storage bags, discontinue the claim that its seal is “2x” stronger than the seal on competing Ziploc bags. However, NAD found that the advertiser could support a claim that its seal is stronger “in demanding circumstances where an especially strong seal is needed.” -
7/18/2012 - NAD Recommends Gillette Discontinue ‘MoistureRich’ Descriptor for Venus ProSkin Razors
The National Advertising Division has determined that the Gillette Company’s use of the descriptor “MoistureRich” in the product name of its “Gillette Venus ProSkin MoistureRich” women’s razor conveys the misleading message that the product moisturizes while one shaves. -
7/17/2012 - NAD Recommends EuroMedica, Inc., Discontinue Certain Claims for its ‘PhosphOmega-3’ Dietary Supplement
The National Advertising Division has recommended that EuroMedica, Inc., modify or discontinue certain advertising claims for the company’s PhosphOmega-3 dietary supplements, including claims related to its bioavailability, absorption and also sustainable fishing. However, NAD found the advertiser could support a claim that referenced the product’s stability. -
7/16/2012 - NAD Recommends VPX Discontinue Certain Claims for Medivin
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Vital Pharmaceuticals discontinue certain claims for its Medivin 100% Natural Liquid Vitamin & Mineral Delivery System, including claims that imply Medivin is more bioavailable than competing Animal Pak supplements. -
7/12/2012 - NAD Finds Nutrisystem’s “Pinned” Content is Testimonial in Nature, Requires Disclosures
The National Advertising Division, following its review of “Real Consumers. Real Success.” – a Pinterest board maintained by Nutrisystem, Inc. – has determined that the weight-loss success stories “pinned” to such boards represent consumer testimonials and require the complete disclosure of material information. -

The Children’s Advertising Review Unit has recommended that Movie Star Planet APS modify the website www.MoveStarPlanet.com to better protect the privacy of child visitors. -
7/11/2012 - NAD Recommends Bayer Discontinue Certain Claims for Citracal SR Following Challenge by Pfizer
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Bayer Healthcare discontinue certain claims for its Citracal Slow Release 1200 once-daily calcium supplement, including claims that state or imply that one dose of Citracal SR provides the same level of calcium as competing calcium supplements that require two daily doses. -
7/10/2012 - NAD Recommends Euro Pro Modify, Discontinue Certain Claims for ‘Shark Navigator Freestyle Vacuum’ Following Dyson Challenge
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Euro-Pro Operating LLC discontinue certain advertising claims made for the company’s Shark Navigator Freestyle Vacuum, including claims that the product “never loses cleaning power.”
