4/02/2020 - NAD Recommends DISH Discontinue Certain Claims Challenged by DirecTV; Finds DISH Can Support ‘Local Fee’ Claim
DISH Network said it has voluntarily and permanently discontinued certain advertising claims challenged before the National Advertising Division by DirecTV, LLC. NAD has determined that Dish provided adequate support for claim related to fees charged by some service providers to view local channels. -

The National Advertising Division has recommended that Mommy’s Bliss, Inc. discontinue all of its performance claims, speed-of-action claims, pediatrician-recommended and “First in the U.S.” claims for its Mommy’s Bliss Gripe Water product, following a challenge by Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Inc., maker of a competing gripe water product. -

The National Advertising Division has recommended that DirecTV, LLC, discontinue certain advertising claims made in a series of television commercials that feature actor Rob Lowe and one of several odd or awkward alter-ego characters. DirecTV has said it will appeal NAD’s findings. -

The National Advertising Division has found that Reckitt Benckiser, Inc.’s “#1 Carpet Cleaning Brand” claim for its Resolve Carpet Cleaner products is properly supported by unit sales data, following a challenge by BISSELL Homecare, Inc. However, NAD recommended modification to the disclaimer accompanying the claim to identify the time period for the claim and its scope. -
