4/25/2017 - NAD Recommends Philips Oral Health Discontinue Challenged Claims for Sonicare Electric Toothbrushes; Advertiser to Appeal to NARB
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Philips Oral Healthcare, LLC, discontinue certain claims for the company’s Sonicare Electric Toothbrushes, including claims that suggest the sound made by a brush correlates to superior efficacy. The advertiser has said it will appeal NAD’s findings to the National Advertising Review Board. -
4/21/2017 - NAD Recommends Bausch & Lomb Discontinue Certain Challenged Claims for Ultra Contact Lenses Following Challenge by J&J Vision Care
The National Advertising Division has determined that Bausch & Lomb Incorporated can support advertising claims that promote the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), a long-chain polymer with a high molecular weight that attracts and maintains moisture, in the company’s Ultra contact lenses with MoistureSeal Technology. -
4/18/2017 - NAD Considers Jurisdictional Issue, Recommends Beech-Nut Discontinue Certain Claims, Finds Certain Claims Supported After Gerber Challenge
The National Advertising Division reviewed claims made as part of Beech-Nut Nutrition Company’s “Real Food for Real Babies” advertising campaign, following a challenge by Nestlé Nutrition USA, Inc., the competing maker of Gerber baby foods. NAD recommended the advertiser discontinue certain challenged claims, but found certain claims supported. -
4/11/2017 - NAD Reviews Discover Comparison Chart Following Challenge by Capital One; Finds One Claim Substantiated, Recommends One Claim be Modified, Discontinued
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Discover Financial Services modify or discontinue one claim featured in a comparison chart aimed at highlighting key differences in credit-card reward programs, but determined that the advertiser could support another claim. Discover also voluntarily and permanently discontinued certain claims. -
4/04/2017 - NAD Finds Olly Public Benefit Co. Can Support Challenged Claims for ‘Kids Mighty Immunity Supplement’
The National Advertising Division has determined that Olly Public Benefit Company can support challenged claims for the company’s “Kids Mighty Immunity Supplement,” including the claim “formulated to help support little immune systems in the biggest way to help keep kids healthy and happy year-round.” -
4/04/2017 - NAD Recommends Comcast Discontinue Claims Challenged by DIRECTV, Including ‘Kiss Your Shows Goodbye’
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Comcast Cable Communications LLC discontinue the claims challenged by DIRECTV LLC, including the express claims: “If it rains or it storms, you might lose TV … no shows tonight” and “When there’s snow or high winds, or even hail … kiss your shows goodbye.” -
4/03/2017 - NAD Refers Advertising for Prestige Brands’ Nix Ultra Lice Removal System to FTC After Advertiser Declines to Discontinue ‘Kill’ Claims
The National Advertising Division has referred advertising claims made by Prestige Brands for its Nix Ultra Lice Removal System to the Federal Trade Commission for further review after the company said it would not comply with NAD recommendations to discontinue claims that the product “kills” lice. -
3/31/2017 - NAD Recommends National Media Group Discontinue Challenged Claims for Neurocet Supplement, Including All Pain-Relief Claims
The National Advertising Division has recommended that National Media Group discontinue pain relief claims made for the company’s Neurocet dietary supplement, including the claim “Pain relief 48 time stronger than morphine.” -
3/30/2017 - NAD Refers Health Claims made for Adderin Supplement to FTC for Review after Advertiser KNH Online Fails to Provide Substantiation
The National Advertising Division has referred advertising claims made by KNH Online, Inc., for its Adderin Dietary Supplement to the Federal Trade Commission after the company failed to respond to a request for substantiation. -
3/29/2017 - NAD Recommends Shell Modify, Discontinue Certain Claims for V-Power NiTRO Premium Gasoline Following BP Challenge; Advertiser to Appeal
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Shell Oil Company modify or discontinue certain challenged claims for the company’s Shell V-Power NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline.
