4/07/2015 - NAD Recommends DirecTV Discontinue Certain Claims in ‘Rob Lowe’ Ads Following Comcast Challenge; DirecTV to Appeal
The National Advertising Division has recommended that DirecTV, LLC, discontinue certain advertising claims made in a series of television commercials that feature actor Rob Lowe and one of several odd or awkward alter-ego characters. DirecTV has said it will appeal NAD’s findings. -
4/02/2015 - NAD Recommends Unilever Discontinue Certain Claims for ‘Degree MotionSense’, ’Clinical Protection’ Products Following P&G Challenge
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Unilever United States, Inc. discontinue certain comparative performance claims for the company’s Degree MotionSense and Degree Clinical Protection antiperspirants. -
3/24/2015 - NAD Finds P&G Can Support ‘Toughest Messes’ Claim for Cascade Platinum, but Recommends Company Discontinue Side-by-Side Demonstration
The National Advertising Division has determined that The Procter & Gamble Company can support the claim that Cascade Platinum dishwasher liquid “powers through your toughest messes.” NAD recommended, however, that P&G discontinue a side-by-side product demonstration. -
3/18/2015 - CARU Recommends TOMY Modify Broadcast Advertising for ‘Battle Ready Pikachu,’ ‘Trainer Gloves;’ Company Agrees to Do So
The Children’s Advertising Review Unit has recommended that TOMY International modify broadcast advertising for Pokémon products to better disclose that its “Trainer Gloves” are not included with the purchase of the “Battle Ready Pikachu” toy. -
3/17/2015 - NAD Recommends DraftKings Discontinue ‘Largest U.S.-Based’ Claims Following FanDuel Challenge
The National Advertising Division has recommended that DraftKings, Inc., discontinue claims that the company’s website, DraftKings.com, is the “largest U.S.-based” fantasy sports or online gaming destination. -
3/12/2015 - NAD Recommends Prestige Discontinue Certain Claims for ‘Little Remedies’ Products, Finds Product Name is Not Misleading
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Prestige Brands Holdings, Inc., discontinue certain advertising claims for two of the company’s “Little Remedies” products formulated with honey. However, NAD determined that the advertiser could support a challenged claim made for Little Remedies Honey Cough Syrup and found that the products’ name – Little Remedies – was not misleading. -
3/11/2015 - Natural Factors Discontinues Certain Claims for ‘Theracurmin’ in Response to NAD Inquiry; NAD Recommends Additional Modifications
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Natural Factors, Inc., modify or discontinue certain claims for the company’s Theracurmin line of curcumin dietary supplements. Following its review of the company’s advertising, NAD determined that the company could support certain claims. -
3/04/2015 - CARU Recommends Bandai Modify Broadcast Advertising for Tamagotchi
The Children’s Advertising Review Unit has recommended that Bandai America Inc., modify broadcast advertising for the company’s “Tamagotchi” toys to ” to adequately disclose that batteries are not included. -
3/03/2015 - NAD Recommends Sprint Discontinue ‘New’ Network, Customer Satisfaction Claims, Following T-Mobile Challenge
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Sprint Corporation discontinue advertising claims that reference a “brand new,” “all-new” or “America’s Newest” network. Further, NAD has recommended that Sprint discontinue claims that the company “is the most improved U.S. company in customer satisfaction, across all 43 industries, over the last six years.” -
2/25/2015 - NAD Recommends Genomma Lab Discontinue Challenged Claims in Spanish-Language Ad for Antibiotic Ointment
The National Advertising Division has recommended that Genomma Lab USA, Inc., discontinue challenged claims made in Spanish-language broadcast advertising for La Pomada de la Compana triple antibiotic ointment.The claims at issue were challenged by Vitacilina Corporation of America, a competing maker of antibiotic ointment.
